Welcome back to another exciting edition of Kunes Car Convos! We had the pleasure of talking with Dr. Kit Evans-Ford, the inspirational founder of Argrow's House of Healing Hope. During our chat, we explored her passion for supporting survivors of violence as we cruised around in the 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid.

Dr. Evans-Ford's Take on the Ford Escape

Dr. Evans-Ford highlighted some standout features of the Ford Escape. She adores its fresh, cozy, and spacious interior, perfect for kids and families. The ample leg room makes long drives a breeze, and the infotainment center is a hit, boasting heated seats and a plethora of other features. She's particularly fond of the chic black leather interior with red stitching – feels like a nod to the Chicago Bulls. Plus, the all-weather mats are ideal for unpredictable midwest weather involving rain, snow, or salt from the ground.

October: A Month of Awareness and Healing

With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it's a poignant time to spotlight the incredible work done at Argrow's House, a safe haven for women and children healing from violence and abuse in the Quad Cities. This remarkable facility has been serving the Quad Cities since its inception in December of 2017.

Lauren Johnson, our marketing manager, reflected on the eye-opening experience of learning about the prevalence of domestic violence. She recalls stories of survivors, some fleeing their homes with nothing but the clothes on their back. Situations like these are what fuels the Argrow House's mission.

A Unique Approach to Healing and Empowerment

Argrow's House stands out with its multifaceted approach to healing. They offer a range of free holistic services like counseling, art therapy, and domestic violence support groups. But what's truly unique is their social enterprise aspect – a bath product company employing survivors of violence. These products, available on their website and at local stores, are more than just items; they're symbols of empowerment and transformation.

Dr. Evans-Ford's personal connection to the cause, inspired by her grandmother's experiences, adds a deep layer of meaning to Argrow's mission. The organization, named after multiple generations of Argrows in her family, is a testament to their strength and resilience.

Community Support and Sustainable Impact

The community's support has been vital in helping hundreds of survivors over the years. This collective effort is mirrored in the compassion and healing support from the Argrow's House team.

The employment opportunities at Argrow’s House are particularly transformative. They provide a nurturing environment where survivors can rebuild their self-esteem and learn valuable skills. As Dr. Evans-Ford perfectly puts it, they're "cutting diamonds" when making their popular bath bombs, symbolizing the precious nature of the journey towards healing and independence.

Looking Ahead: Growth and Connection

The journey doesn't end when survivors leave Argrow's House. The bond often continues, with the team witnessing the growth of families over years, celebrating milestones from elementary school to college graduations.

The most surprising aspect for Dr. Evans-Ford in this endeavor? Becoming a soap maker and witnessing the transformative power of running a business dedicated to social justice.
